About the Hall
The Memorial Hall was built in Idmiston Road, Porton to commemorate parishioners who gave their lives in two world wars. It opened in 1959.
Although the exterior is not an architectural gem, the interior is warm, light, clean and modern, with facilities for disabled people.
There is a good sized car-park. Volunteers manage the hall by way of a charitable trust, and we pay a cleaner and grass cutter.
There is a timetable for the Groups that use the hall, it is also well used by private hirers especially for childrens’s birthday parties, wedding anniversaries and Christening celebrations.
Main Hall capacity:
With tables and chairs – 80
Theatre style seating (no tables) – 100
With minimal furniture – 120
Small Hall capacity:
With tables and chairs – 25
Theatre style seating (no tables) – 40 to 50
As confirmed by the Booking Secretary, the Parish Council meeting arrangement of tables in a horse shoe shape with chairs for 15 Councillors and 1 Clerk is acceptable, and allows for a further 20 to 25 chairs to be available for members of the public.
